Obsidian Spirit, Winged Stained Glass Sculpture with Obsidian Boulder
“And above all, watch with glittering eyes the whole world around you because the greatest secrets are always hidden in the most unlikely places. Those who don't believe in magic will never find it.”
-Roald Dahl
"Obsidian Spirit." came about when I found this large piece of obsidian and this is what I saw inside it. The inspiration for it felt like it came from outside of me. It was just a spirit waiting to get its wings, and it told me so.
The ancient people deeply believed that creativity was a divine force that existed outside of oneself. They believed that the “muse,” “genius” or “inspiration,” was an entity in and of itself that would visit you with insight when needed. It’s only now in these individual-focused times that we seem to have forgotten that creativity is a force outside of ourselves. We’ve come to believe that genius lies in the hand of the individual and we forget that we can open ourselves up to be a channel for divine forces that may exist outside of us.
This obsidian raven was definitely something that came from elsewhere. The Raven totem signifies that magic is at play. Raven ignites the energies of magic allowing it to become one with our intentions and will. Great changes can be achieved and dreams can become a reality. The Raven also shows you how to walk into the dark corners of your inner conflicts, opening the doors to the deepest power of healing. Combined with the protection energy of obsidian this powerful totem reminds you that you’re protected by the magic of the world around you.
